I have an idea of understanding the ending! That is beautiful.
Been waiting two years and I finally bought it like 2 hours ago, downloading now. So excited, maybe all those delays were worth it...Most definitely.
Just got done with it.I bought it knowing that the gameplay wasn't going to be amazing, really only buying it because I knew that the story telling in the other Bioshocks was very impressive. I still don't think that gameplay was anything special, but the atmosphere and Colombia and how the story was told is why I really like it. I'm replaying it now and I'm just noticing the little things that hint to the ending.
To me, it's a generic shooter with a cool atmosphere. A poor man's Half-Life 2
Elizabeth is a okay partner, even though they could've made her more valuable (not make her invincible, let her be able to shoot weapons.) I feel like she was a Disney princess reject with her looks and the fact that she was locked in a tower for most of her life.
I wish Booker had more of a back story, other than that he fought at Wounded Knee and got an gambling addiction that forced him to sell his daughter. There really wasn't much more to him, which is odd for an protagonist.
The enemies are somewhat easy to kill (I played on medium), until the end where the skill level rapidly shoots up. The outdoor fights were better than the indoor fights because the indoor fights had similar rooms almost everytime.
While some people praise the ending for being unique, I find it as a shallow, rushed 2deep4u ending. Irrational Games could've and should've made the ending make more sense. They'll probably fix it with the DLC's they'll be releasing. It's about as frustrating as the original Fallout 3 ending (Fallout 3's ending didn't have LODS OF TWISTS though.) It's babbys first attempt at a 2deep4u ending.
The game isn't worth buying right now, since it's really short (I beat it in around 9 hours.) If you REALLY want to buy the game, you should wait until there is a steam sale for it. It sure as hell isn't worth 60 dollars.
If I had to rate it, I'd give it a 6.5/10. It's not a bad game, but it's ludicrous to call it GOTY or give it a 10/10. You guy's should not trust metacritic, or any major gaming site for reviews anyway.
This game is way better on the second playthrough.I agree, you find more crap.
I agree, you find more crap.I guess I was the only one who literally did everything in the game. Spending most of my play time finding pineapples in the trash.

Anyhow, I really enjoyed the game. Though it did loose plenty of steam before the end. That story and complications could have been more original, but they were still placed together well.

I know the ending and such, I'll finish it eventually.
I always do this.
Always.
;_;
I was a little pissed at the ending.

I really don't like how nothing in the story was properly explained. Who killed the man in the lighthouse? how did Elizabeth get her powers during the closing of that tear? How do the Letuce siblings get around without opening tears?Spoiler (click to show/hide)
I really don't like how nothing in the story was properly explained. Who killed the man in the lighthouse? how did Elizabeth get her powers during the closing of that tear? How do the Letuce siblings get around without opening tears?I believe she got her powers because a part of her (her pinky) was left in another dimension, which thus gave her the power to tear through time to find her lost appendage. At least that's what I think.
Well... I hope they at least try to explain those questions better through DLC, not just the assumption of the player.

Who killed the man in the lighthouse? It's assumed that it's another Booker that failed.Yeah. Most of the tear and time travel concept can just be explained with the *Magic!* excuse to fill in the gaps. Elizabeth somehow gains her powers as a baby through that tear, being linked to another world through a tear wouldn't necessarily mean the power to access all worlds or even give Elizabeth her powers in the first place. Though the game did give a somewhat satisfying answer to how it all went, and it would be quite difficult to think of something that would fit the story anyway. Aside from the game scenes the audio logs were the closest we could get to detail.
How did Elizabeth get her powers during the closing of that tear? (I'm guessing that you are talking about the tear she goes threw when she's a baby.) She gains those powers because the top half of her pinkie was chopped of by the tear, meaning that she has parts of her body in two different universes.
How do the Letuce siblings get around without opening tears? Fink attempted to kill the Letuce twins by sabotaging the machine they used to use tears. Instead of killing them, he scattered them throughout the universes, giving them timelord powers. Elizabeth doesn't have these powers until the Siphon was destroyed.

I did enjoy the Letuce twins though, their scenes were made excellently. Kind of like... ah fuck. Forgot the characters. Anyone think of similar characters to them. Aside from Tweedledum And Tweedledee?
Looks like someone is remaking Columbia in Minecraft
