Title: So Franchises from THQ are sold, and THQ is dead now.
Post by: HideoKojima on January 23, 2013, 01:03:20 PM
So THQ is dead now... here is what was sold off to who.

Yesterday morning, we received a competing bid for the operating business,
along with Clearlake's offer, and numerous offers for separate assets.
During an auction process that lasted over 22 hours, the final conclusion was
that the separate-asset bids would net more than a single buyer for the majority
of the company.
Shortly, we will, present the results to the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, which must
concur with our assessment.
The proposed sales of multiple assets is as follows :
Sega agreed to purchase Relic(developer of Company of Heroes and Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War.
)

Koch Media agreed to purchase Volition and Metro(Saints Row developer Volition as well as the publishing rights to the Metro franchise.)
Crytek agreed to purchase Homefront(Crytek, who is currently developing Homefront 2, has purchased the rights to the Homefront franchise.)
Take 2 agreed purchase Evolve(Turtle Rock Studios’ project codenamed Evolve. Unannounced game.)
Ubisoft agreed to purchase Montreal and South Park(Montreal is making project codenamed 1666. Unannounced.)
We expect these sales to close this week.

Some assets, including our publishing businesses and Vigil, along with some other
intellectual properties are not included in the sale agreements. They will remain part of
the Chapter 11 case. We will make every effort to find appropriate buyers, if possible.

Gotta say Koch Media buying stuff was quite odd imo.

Summary of the $$$
$26M for Relic (Sega)
$22.3M for Volition (Koch Media)
$5.8M for Metro (Koch Media)
$500k Homefront (Crytek)
$2.5M for THQ Montreal (Ubisoft)
$3.2M for South Park (Ubisoft)
$11M for Evolve (Take-Two)
It really sucks that no one has claimed darksiders :(
All the other games seem to be in good hands though..

Koch Media has a lot of very meh/bad games.

Gotta say, I'm kinda surprised how much money was spent on Metro because that is only for PUBLISHING rights for the game. Not the games themselves.

But yea.. it's sad that Darksiders got 0 bids.
