HAS JUST BEEN RESOLVED.

What was it originally?

What was it originally?
The fact you couldn't set game install directories.
Now you can create steam folders on any drive.

Okay, that makes much more sense considering I only have one drive at the moment.
-
I still hate that we can't send offline messages.....
-
Never had a problem with this.

Never had a problem with this.
You would if you were like me, and wanted to use external HDD's.
Fucking shit was so annoying.
-
Oh nice, much more flexible than being limited to a single drive.
-
Guys, guys, hey,
are you 5 year olds? The first thing I did when I had my new drive, was just CUT the Steam folder straight to the other disc. That's all it took. I've done this for 2 years.
HUEHUEHEUHEUE
I realised this is to install GAMES, not STEAM itself... sorry!
And yes, pretty fucking cool.

But you couldn't have two simultaneous steam folders and access them both at once.

I have to restart Steam a lot since I get the "SteamStartupApp: PipeConnectionLock" error when working with Hammer. And whenever I restart Steam I have to manually end Steam.exe or it will give me the "steam is already running" message.
It's easy to do, but if I didn't know what Task Manager was, I would have to wait for 10 minutes just for Steam to completely close out so I could start it up again.
Offline Mode on the other hand is just as bad. If I don't have connection to the internet while I want to switch, it gives me the error that it can't connect to the Steam network. This restricts me from doing anything Steam related which is very frustrating when I just want to work on a map.

Really? I've had to switch a couple times while my internet was out, and it let me do it ._.

Clearly magi were involved in this, seeing as youre the only one I know of who has been able to do that

Yeah, recently my internet has been going out constantly, so I'd be unable to launch games. Switching to offline mode works fine though.

Without logging in first, you cant enter offline mode though. You need to be online to enter offline mode. Because its logical.

I've been like Death too, never had to 'be online to be offline'. Maybe it has to do with remember-password?

Shouldnt really matter much if youre using offline mode. No multiplayer functionality, and there are better ways to pirate games than to steal someone's computer. Its not like you can do anything other than launch single player games. Its quite odd to me.

I think you actually can't go offline mode unless you have your password set to remember.
