11/8 MY PC is built! But haven't put on OS yet.
11/10 PC is 100% down. OS and everything. Currently downloading windows updates. So I will still be using my laptop for the rest of the night for gaming and then never again :D
11/11 Now using my new PC here is the specs of my old laptop. (http://i.imgur.com/lMrTd.jpg)
My new PC specs

Still need headset still and probably better monitor.
Can't talk to people on new computer. ;_; no mic.
-
Looks good, although since I was on an even more restricted budget than you I built an ATI computer that totaled 800 alongside the monitor and accessories such as keyboard and mouse and whatnot.
Anyways, experience and recommendation is that Nvidia and Intel provide better GPUs and CPUs but at a substantially higher cost. It's quality vs cost efficiency mostly.
Edit: That's right, I forgot. Ditch the heatsink that your CPU comes with and invest in an aftermarket heatsink. Cooler temps are worth the money, not only for performance but also for your immediate environment (Having a bad heatsink can result in heat radiating from your PC and making it pretty uncomfortable).

Heatsinks are pretty cheap aren't they?
I could honestly make my PC a lot more expensive, but I don't wanna go overkill and I don't feel like spending much.

Change to a better motherboard, maybe less on the GPU and an extra fan or two for the case, those are around $10 each.
-
That green drive is pretty slow. You think you could recycle an HDD or just buy a new one when you need it? The motherboard is cheaply built. Otherwise good build.

Well, I was hoping to make the GPU last awhile....
Would the fans make it really loud? I hate listening to fans. lol

I've got nothing to reuse sadly...
Can either of you recommend a cheap and better Motherboard?

My computer is pretty loud but I wear a headset so I can't hear it.

I have a loud computer but my headphones have almost no noise isolation because they are open headphones. More of speakers that sit on my ears.

What resolution are you gaming at?

How loud? I hate loud. I'm a grumpy old man.

Is that good? lol

I play every game on something different lmao. It's a laptop, I don't have much choice.
-
Very loud.......
And by resolution I think he wants to know what resolution u PLAN to game at.

Loud hurts my ears. I like things quiet.
Um... I don't know... I don't have a monitor yet so I couldn't say... lol

I really wanted to go intel with my build, but I decided it would be best to go AMD. Do you edit video? Is it worth paying another $100 for a five-second faster boot time and an extra 10FPS in Starcraft II?
If you want to be futureproof, get a nice $110 LGA 1155 board and 3570k/2500k. Get a nice CPU cooler to go with it. Bump the GPU down to a 7770, 6870 or 7850 to stay within budget. Personal preference, but I like Antec and Corsair PSUs.

GTX 670 FTW is amazing too, if you have $400 then I would suggest the 670 FTW.

If he is running 1080p it wouldn't be worth it right now. Assuming he doesn't already have a gaming rig (no monitor, no reusable HDD) any upgrade would be huge, and a 660ti can run any game today max settings with 30+ fps. It's not worth paying 30% more on a card to maybe get a 10-15% performance increase.

Hell no, even if he had the money for it.

Well I might edit videos in the future, and extra FPS is always good?

I have 0 items. So I'm starting from scratch. lol

Isn't 660 ti almost as good? Kinda.
-

You *might* edit videos *in the future*. Chances are even if you do you wouldn't be rendering hours of 1080p footage edited in After Effects. Is it worth one hundred more of your hard earned dollars for something you might do a little in the future to be a little bit faster? (a mouthful, I know.)
I have 0 items. So I'm starting from scratch. lol
Exactly my point. Even if you play at 720p on medium-high settings with 4x AA you'll still be blown away compared to what you're used to.
Isn't 660 ti almost as good? Kinda.
You'll get 7 more FPS in Metro going from a $300 card to a $400 card. Not worth it if you're trying to stay tight to your budget.
-
Go for a 660ti or lower. I'm sure you won't be constantly playing shit like Battlefield 3. Put the settings on medium and you'll get 80 fps. Actually no, fuck that and play with VSYNC
Well optimised source maps will give you 299 fps constantly. Don't waste so much money
You will never need the power of a top of the line card. When the next set comes out, you will be disappointed.
-
I have the GeForce GTX 60 Ti and I'm perfectly happy with it. BF3 runs perfect
-
I thought 1080p is best/recommended?
So a 660 ti would be good?
I hear people saying AMD is only good for cheap builds.

Yea, but I also don't wanna get anything old, that is also still kinda pricey, ya know?

Axule brings up a very good point. You should run BF3 fine on high settings @ 1080p if you get anything better than a 560/7770. Metro 2033 and Crysis, the two most demanding games on the market, can both be completed in under 20 hours. Are you really going to spend $100 more so those 20 hours can look very good, as opposed to just "good"? You will undoubtedly play games that aren't very demanding more than the select few that require a powerhouse to max out. (Gmod being a prime example.)
Sorry if I'm being confusing here.

TL;DR Get something above 560/7770.

what are you talking about? the 560 and 7770 are both very good for there price.
-
Any of today's cards can run everything amazingly. Spending over $300 on a GPU itself isn't a good idea, especially when you will will replace the card after a few years.
Don't pay too much attention to the benchmarks to poorly optimised trash like Metro and Crysis (more a benchmark test than a game)
FPS shouldn't be much of a concern as long as it's over 60. Play with VSYNC, it's better for the system.
You will be playing Gmod the majority of the time anyway.

I heard Witcher 2 would only get MED on that?

Well I own Witcher 2 so I'd like it to be nice. Also I don't want to upgrade for awhile either.

Like I said I want it to last me more then 5 years, I hate spending money, so I'd rather do it now then later, ya know?
-
Just get a 660 or 7850 now and three years from now when technology is more advanced upgrade your GPU. Don't get a fancy card now if you want it to last without upgrades.

Again, I personally would get a better PSU and case and knock down the GPU. Not really a big deal, it's a great build either way.

550 watts is fine for this.
-
550 watts is fine for this.
Agreed, but a system like this could eat up 450w peaking in a demanding game. Add a few years and the capacitors may deteriorate, plus he may wish to add another HDD or 670. Not very futureproof.
-
Dumb down the GPU to a 660 Ti and bump the motherboard up a little.
-
Oh in case nobody else said this just if they did sorry :/
Get a better power supply a 650 watt power supply is going to explode not literally but probably will give out some time supporting that gtx 670 I would probably recommend getting something in the 950-750 range at least
My old power supply gave out due to my cpu lol it was like a 500 wat not really good but meh it was decent for my time

Actually a good 550W PSU would be fine with this system, but not really safe and especially if he's going to overclock the CPU+GPU.
I say go with a 620W or a 650W PSU and you'll have a great system (A Z77 motherboard would also be better if you have the budget).

A lot of their stuff used to be low end shiz, had lotta peeps wif problems wif dem.
However recently it seemed they turned over a new leaf with the new architectures and seem to be pretty decent :o

Not a great idea to get a 670 + 2500k and lay them on a $80 1155 board. Lowest I'd go is $110.

Hideo, you will not need such a high end GPU. It will last you the same amount of time that any other card would. (when you decide your PC is old) Don't fool yourself. Try to balance out your CPU and GPU in terms of power and cost. I doubt you will listen to us, just do some more comparisions between Graphics Cards so you can replace that motherboard with a better one.

Well I kinda planned on never upgrading(Well not never but for a long time lol)
I've heard that's it pretty good :/ just wanted more feedback, a few others said get a better MOBO but that's it...
-
If you aren't getting the ASrock then get http://pcpartpicker.com/part/gigabyte-motherboard-gaz77xud3h (http://pcpartpicker.com/part/gigabyte-motherboard-gaz77xud3h) or the UD5H.
-
That PSU... You should switch with the modular OCZ 600w for less moneis. You could go with a z77 if you wanted more bells and whistles, but I think a z75 is ok. I don't know what you plan on doing (maybe gaming?) but I think an HD 7950 should suit your needs.
-
If you haven't already placed you're order up the PSU to atleast 600W
The estimated shiz for power is not that accurate.
-
Bought a different RAM then I Was going to and a better/different PSU(sold out at amazon atm)
Now I need an OS, Monitor, and headset. lol
-
Pingaz Windows 7 Ultimate, there is also a great 24" ASUS V_____ monitor I'm sure someone here owns.

Isn't WIN7 UL like 200$? lol
How much is the monitor? :o
I only wanna shell out like 100 to 150$
-
updated kinda
-
Most people would go for Win7 as an OS, but you could buy Win8 for a couple more bucks.
As far as monitors go, I'm clueless. Headsets really depend on what you want. I'm getting that Steelseries Siberia V2 Frost Blue.

Nooo, they aren't good. Any headset is crap compared to what you can get with a dedicated mic and headphones.

For the monitor get the HP 2311x NOT the 2311xi version, it's the same one that I will get.

Updated!

Get Windows 7 Home Premium or Windows 8 Pro, Windows 8 has a 7 fps difference but if you don't like Win8 you can always get Windows 7.

I listen to everything besides Country really.
Mostly rock/punk. And techno for some weird reason. (not dubstep)
I need the headset just for talking(bitching/yelling) in game, future Let's Play(eventually) and just to hear the sound of the game in a good matter.
But I want it cheap because I'm a cheapass.

Were you able to overclock the i5? I tried, but afterwards, my comp broke and I had to reinstall Windows :(

Then there's no point in grabbing a 3570K if you didn't need to OC. I think the 3450 or something would have been sufficient ._.

10-50~ dollars? Unless their is one that's like 55/60$ and really worth getting.

The material is some kind of cheap vinyl and It gets very sticky and gross on your head after awhile. After a few months it gets hard as a rock and starts to crack and wrinkle.

Of course I am running it out of a dedicated soundcard instead of my mobo soundchip so it will sound different
