Assuming its real (I dont care enough to check, but it seems so :s), its probably not on purpose. Though if it is, I have a new love for NASA.

Lol it's probably not actually on Mars, I doubt they would actually take a picture of this. But either way, I kind of lol'd.

Looking at it, Im doubting it is. Looks like the tracks were made by 2 wheels.
On the other hand, the shape isnt so obvious as to metaphorically "wave" itself in your face, making it seem fairly real.
