The AWP in Counter-Strike is actually misnamed.

In CS:S, it was correctly termed the AWM, or Arctic Warfare Magnum. It's the variant of the Accuracy International Arctic Warfare sniper rifle chambered for longer rounds. The AWP, or Arctic Warfare Police, is a law enforcement variant with a black matte finish and shorter barrel.

The kind of shit I read on wikipedia.
