Title: Burning calories at a desk.
Post by: Alphaggot on August 19, 2012, 06:03:02 PM
Burn 300+ calories/day playing MMOs! | Standing Computer Desk (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=462lohqdiIM#ws)

I'm not sure what to think of this but it looks like it works.

I think I'd have a hard time concentrating standing up. But I think this would help with back problems more than burning calories.

This is is interesting. I'm not overweight so I don't need to do this for calories, however I agree with Alkaline for back problems.

I think it would cause back problems actually.

But you're standing up with an erect back rather than slouching in a chair.

Unless you're a -- laid back kind of guy :D

Well Sabb was right in a sense. Your head does weigh a lot so it can add pressure to your shoulders / spine.

More or less what I was going for. Extended periods of standing (especially in the same position the entire time) can cause a lot of stress/strain on your back and shoulders etc. Over time it's known to cause problems and I think can wear down cartilage in your spine and neck? Not certain about that though.

You could burn all of your calories with a little bit of Kerosine in a few minutes!  :fire:

I got exposed to an open microwave before. Made my eyes burn like Hell for a day.

I don't see the point in getting a huge argument for it. No offense but I'd rather spend my time elsewhere lol. Simply Google around a bit and I'm sure that won't be hard to find. I have heard many people having issues with this including doctors (IRL, legitimate doctors) explaining some issues with it. A lot of the time I'm sure it won't necessarily cause permanent harm but most definitely does cause pain. Obviously there can be similar issues with sitting for prolonged periods of time as well though. At least when you're sitting you're comfortable though.

EDIT: And if you want to search yourself for sources and what not to prove me wrong that's fine I can admit to being wrong. I'm just speaking from personal experience more or less.
