Holy shit, If it's even half the fun I had when I played the first borderlands I know this is going to be epic as hell.
Just can't wait to see these  endless supply of  guns they keep bragging about.

...there were endless supplies of guns in the first game too...

It is basically a tag system. For ex.: Fire revolver, Fire revolver of gayness etc.
