it always pops up an error since the update

goto your steam folder
and delete ClientRegistry.blob


make sure you have steam closed

It's an update issue. Many people have it.
Just wait until a new update fixes it.

If re-installing doesn't work, try to delete your garrysmod folder. Save your addons and other stuff you downloaded before doing this. It worked when I deleted the teamfortress folder when Team fortress 2 had a similar problem, so it might work for Garry's Mod.
And if not, do what Don said, and wait for the next update.
