Title: May someone kindly explain to me what this Gmod Beta is?

I checked out the Gmod website. I do not know what the hell is going on. Is the current Gmod never gonna be updated ever again? Or is it just a big mega huge update?

its a beta of the next huge update/version

as much as ive heard its what garry has been working on past 4 months or so
