Title: Gonna buy a new processor, need help.

Ok I'm either picking a Intel i5 520m 2.4GHz or a AMD Athlon II X3 435 which I heard is very cheap compared to the i5. Planning also to buy a new motherboard but I got that all in place already. I just need to know which ones are better. Thanks.

The two CPU's basically have the same performance, just I'd get the AMD because it's a lot cheaper than the i5.

Which one is better, in terms of speed is it the same or almost the same?

With those two, it's a hair off of being the same. So I'd go with the cheapest one.

And AMD packs heatsinks a long with the packaging. So you don't need to worry about the fan.

Well by along time you mean even a $700 processor will be considered a POS in 3 years.

the 955 is really the way to go, best one for price from AMD.

Oh also do you have an AMD or a Intel mobo?

DEFINITELY the AMD. It's cheaper and a lot easier to upgrade unlike the Intel - you would have to buy a new motherboard if you want to upgrade for a new processor. You can have a nice rig with one of AMD's new processors. maybe an FX- 4100 or 6100???

mmm, no. the FX are slower then the Phenoms.
