Title: Grandpa died
Post by: blαh2355 on December 26, 2011, 04:24:29 PM
About 4:30 EST yesterday, we get a call from Hong Kong from my uncle saying my mom's father died. It is very sad but didn't affect me that much but my mom went bursting into tears. I hope he is in a happy place now :(

Wow, Same. It didn't affect me much since my grandfather didn't like spend some time to us. But I hope your grandfather is in the better place.

I'll be mourning the day my living grandfather dies. My maternal grandfather died from cancer at the age of 57 from smoking, his wife died a few years later due to cancer. I never got to know them.

I have an aunt who took care of me as a child back in the philippines..
and she's had cancer for awhile now.
I sent her money to help out with medical bills and hospital bills for a good amount of time.

about 10 mins ago I received a call from my relatives saying that she passed.
She told them the night before she passed that "she wanted to die and get it over with because of the pain"
I don't know what to think right now since I did have a close relationship with her as a child.

Im sorry that your grandpa passed and I understand your feeling.

On August 31, one of my friends hanged herself in her backyard.

Both of my biological grandfathers fucked up our family on some way, shape, or form. Basically, they both left my grandma's.

However, my grandma (dad's mom) has had cancer for awhile, and sometime in November of 2010, we were informed that she was going to pass away soon, and since my dad was getting ready to deploy, we all went down to North Carolina to visit her one last time.

She ended up dying right before my brothers and my uncle got back from a small trip to a museum.

I didn't have to close of a relationship with her, however, I really felt for my dad because I know that my grandma meant the world to him.

My Great grandfather on my dad's side died not to long ago due to strokes. He had a couple of them and still somehow managed to live, but after one that hit him hard, he began to just go straight down hill.

My great grandfather on my mom's side however is still alive, but not for very long. Both of them served in WW2, so you can imagine how old he is right now.
We constantly visit him and my grandma along with an aunt and uncle during holidays and breaks from school.

I've never truly felt a that feeling of losing someone close yet (thank god), so I can't say I know how most of you feel.

sorry none the less.

I know what it's like - my grandpa - my mom's mom - died on October 1st, 1997 - I was 7 days away from turning eight, my younger cousin's birthday was that day.  It was a warm evening - me, my mom, dad, brother, one aunt, uncle and their three kids, another aunt, uncle and their two kids, 3 older cousins, another pair of aunt/uncle, and my grandma all were crammed in this small waiting room by the elevator on the floor where his room was.   It was emotional for all. b Bet hes with his WWII buddies though, wherever that may be, happily passing the time away playing his violin.

[Hey, I can attempt to be spiritual, right?]
